RIYADH — Saudi Gazette will sponsor Riyadh Cricket League (RCL) Inter-School Cricket Tournament for the season 2012-2013. This was announced after a meeting between Khaled Almaeena, Editor-in-Chief of Saudi Gazette, and RCL Executive Committee here recently. On behalf of the RCL Executive Committee, Razaur Rahman, RCL Senior Advisor, welcomed Almaeena and introduced the committee members. During his brief introductory speech, Rahman applauded Almaeena's efforts in supporting different community activities, especially sports. Farhan Khairi, RCL Additonal Secretary, made a 20-minute presentation on RCL's achievements. Jawad Khalifa, RCL Patron, thanked Almaeena for his support and keen interest in RCL activities. He assured his support on behalf of Prince Sultan Bin Nasser Bin Abdelaziz Al-Saud for this event and thanked Saudi Gazette. Mamoor Elahi, President RCL, extended his appreciation toward Almaeena for his continued support for making this inter-school tournament one of the popular events in Riyadh. He also assured the gathering that the event will be organized successfully by providing good facilities. Almaeena, an avid cricketer who had made his presence felt as a player in early 1980s by representing Yellow Rose team in Jeddah, promised his support to youth activities. He underlined the importance of sports and the need of encouraging the youngsters to fulfill their ambitions. Jawaid Munawar, Senior Vice President, briefed on the format of the tournament. He said 10 schools – Pakistan International School Nasseriyah, Pakistan International School (English Section), Indian International School, Indian International Public School, Sri Lankan International School, Bangladesh International School, Manarat School, American School, British Delhi Public School and Jawahir Riyadh School – are expected to take part in the tournament. A three-member committee, led by Rehan Khan, will complete the formalities for the tournament. — SG
