NECC bagged the Prince Sultan Bin Nasir T20 Cricket Cup for 2011-12 which was organized by Riyadh Cricket League (RCL) here recently. NECC defeated Friends Clubs by 40 runs in the final. Faheem Shah played a vital innings by scoring 67 runs and grabbing 3 wickets. Faheem was declared Man of the Match for his all-round performance. Sixteen teams participated in the season opening tournament of RCL. The teams were divided into three divisions as Super, Premier I and Premier II. The tournament was organized by RCL and it was sponsored by Haneef Baber. NECC elected to bat first and amassed 220 runs in 20 overs through excellent batting by Faheem Shah, Asad Butt and Ammar. Playing strokes all around the ground Faheem Shah produced a masterly innings of 67 which included 8 fours and 2 sixes. Assad and Ammar contributed 40 runs each. For Friends Nadeem Shah bowled well by taking 3 wickets. Sajid and Latafat took one wicket each. In reply, Friends failed to achieve the target as NECC restricted it to 170. Except Abdulwahid's 50 and Imran Raha's 29, there were no significant contributions as Friends lost wickets at regular intervals. Prize distribution ceremony was attended by dignitaries including Shamshad Siddiqui, VP Khalid, Younus Nawab and Zahid Butt. Cash awards were given to the men of the matches in semifinals and the man of the match in final. Zahid Butt also gave cash prizes to the man of the match of final Faheem and player of the tournament Sajid. Aasif Sheikh COO of RCL welcomed the members and gave a summary of the tournament. Shamshad Siddiqui appreciated the efforts of RCL committee members Jawad Al-Khalifa, Javed Munawar, Hanif Babar, Aasif Shaikh, Raza-ur-Rahman, Riaz Ahmed, Tariq Butt and Zakariya Hassan for successfully organizing the tournament.
