RCA, WPCA share honors

Riyadh Cricket Association team with officials and guestsDr. Sayed ZiauddinJEDDAH — The visiting Riyadh Cricket Association (RCA) clinched the 40-over cricket match, while the host WPCA won the three Twenty20 encounters played here recently.
WPCA Green faced RCA Patrons, while WPCA Yellow played RCA Thursday. WPCA White then confronted RCA before RCA Seniors encountered WPCA.
WPCA Green beat RCA Patrons in the first T20 match by 77 runs. Batting first WPCA Green made 216-6. Skipper Kashif Shafeeq hammered 87 runs off 45 balls and Moazzam Shoukat hit 50. The two scored 120 runs for the first wicket. Later, Amir Sajjad added 30. Nadeem Asghar took 3-37, Saqib 2-34 and Shiraz claimed one wicket. In reply RCA Patrons was restricted to 139-6 in the stipulated overs. Nasir Abbasi scored 29. Hussain Bhatti claimed 3-33, while a wicket each went to Amir Sajjad and Sufiyan Laheri.
WPCA Yellow then beat RCA by four wickets. RCA put on 211-6 through Abdul Waheed (82) and Asif (43). Abu Huraira scalped 2-26, Shoaib Ali 2-45, while a wicket each went to Aftab Khan, Azhar, Imran and Abdullah Zahid. WPCA in reply reached the target for the loss of six wickets with 11 balls to spare. Man-of-the-Match Aftab Khan hammered 67, Shafeeq 44 and Abdullah Zahid hit four consecutive sixes to take WPCA Yellow to the winning post.
Ali Rizwan took 2-16, Raja 2-49, while Abdul Waheed and Aftab claimed one wicket each.
WPCA White won the third and final T20 against RCA by 118 runs. Taking the strike first WPCA White racked up 234-7. Faisal hammered 93 (16 fours and a six), while Khurram Karamat hit 36. Aftab took 2-25 as Iftikhar, Raja Zafar, Faisal and Nouman bagged a wicket each. RCA was bowled out for 116 as Zeeshan claimed 3-17, Nadeem 2-13 and Qaiser 2-13. Chand and Faiq bagged a wicket each.
RCA beat the WPCA by 74 runs in the 40-over match. RCA took the strike first and racked up 297. Man-of-the-Match Yasir made 82 (9 fours and a six), Abdulhaq 45, Abdulwahab 45, Salam 33 and Omar Zafar 31. Kashif had 2-41, while Hammad Saeed, Shafeeq, Abu Huraira and Shoaib Ali had one wicket each.
WPCA, in reply, was restricted to 223. Shafeeq scored 42, Shahbaz 42, Abid Naseem 36, Abdullah Essa 35 and Shoaib Ali 25. Muzaffar grasped 3-52, Kamran 2-40, Imtiyaz 2-44, while a wicket each went to Nadeem Babar and Ramzan.
A glittering awards distribution ceremony was held after the matches where Junaid Iskander, President of WPCA, along with the Saudi Cricket Center (SCC) CEO Nadeem Nadwi distributed the prizes.
