JEDDAH — The Western Province Cricket Association's (WPCA) executive committee under the guidance and patronage of President Junaid Iskander, Vice President Choudhry Zulfikahr Ali and Sr. Vice President Mirza Gulnar Baig organized a glittering function at a local restaurant here to launch the autobiography of Salahuddin Ahmed, former Pakistan Test Cricketer and an Ex-PCB chief selector.
The function was graced by chief guest Anwer Maqsood, a legendary TV stage artist, writer and actor, who came all the way from Pakistan to honor his friend Salahuddin, nicknamed Sallu.
The guest of honors were Shahbaz Senior, former Pakistan hockey olympian, Iqbal Sikander former Pakistan Test and one day cricketer, currently ACC development Manager for the Middle East; and Nadeem Nadwi, CEO, Saudi Cricket Center, along with Qasim Naqwi and Qadeer of Contraco.
The function began with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Qur'an followed by a brief introduction of the chief guest and the guests of honors by Amir Mohammed Khan.
Maqsood then took over the stage and entertained the audience with his vintage performances.
More than 500 people comprising mainly of cricketers and cricket lovers attended the function and enjoyed every moment of Maqsood's light-hearted witty monologues.
The guests also took the opportunity to express their views and thoughts about the autobiography. Sallu hoped his book will enlighten the modern day cricketers making them enhance their skills in cricket and human nature.
Sallu's 412-page autobiography titled “Sallu Aap Beeti” is written in simple Urdu-language.
The function came to an end with a lavish dinner. The event was sponsored by Contraco along with the WPCA. — SG
