JEDDAH: The WPCA Executive Committee of the Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) beat the Pakistan Journalist Forum (PJF) team by 61 runs in a festival Cricket match celebrating the safe and healthy return of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The match, sponsored by Alpha group, was a grand success. Played in the right and grand spirit, a huge crowd comprising families and other Jeddah dignitaries graced the match. Choosing to take the strike first WPCA Excompiled up 173-9 in the allotted 18 overs as man of the match Usman Qureshi thrashed the journalist to compile 46 runs, Sohail Shah added 27, Nadeem Nadwi 17, Wasim Mukadam 16 and Nadeem Shabbir 14. Jahangir, who picked up the Bowler of the Match award, picked up four wickets for 28 runs for PJF. PJF in response was restricted to 112-9 in the stipulated 18 overs. Yahya made 32 and Naeemullah 20 runs. Qasim Naqwi with his spin scalped 3-12 runs, Sohail Shah 2-0 as Ghazali and Nadeem Nadwi took a wicket each. After the match a short prize distribution ceremony was held amidst the presence of Guests of Honors Mohammed Nazim Hamit, Mohammed Faizan Hamit and Assanga Samantha, representing the sponsor Alpha group. WPCA skipper Nasir was handed the winner's trophy while the runner-up crown was given to Mohammed Aamir Khan. The match was supervised by Dr. Sayed Ziauddin and Laiq as M.M. Naushad did scoring and a running commentary during the match. __
