PISJ-ES dominates inter-city sports festival

Bagging two of the three titles at stake, Pakistan International School Jeddah (English Section) dominated the first Inter-City Sports Festival here recently.
Besides host PISJ-ES, Pakistan International School, Taif, Yanbu Al-Sanayah Cricket Association (YACA) and Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) competed for honors in this two-day sports festival which was sponsored by Johnson Control, Contraco, Fuchs Petroleum, Crown Steel and Mahmood Saeed Beverages and supported by Saudi Cricket Center (SCC) and WPCA. The players were given opportunity to test their skills in three major disciplines - cricket, football and table tennis. Competitions were held on a league cum playoff basis in all three events. The grand opening ceremony was held at the PISJ-ES. Vice Principal Yasmeen Suleman welcomed the participants. Saher Kamran, Director, Finance and Administration, exchanged greetings with the officials of all the teams.
Cricket
In the first match, PISJ-ES comfortably defeated Pakistan International School, Taif. YACA won the second encounter against WPCA. In the final, YACA won the toss against PISJ-ES and and elected to bat. After having lost its main batsmen early Abdullah tried to hold on. YACA finally tallied 71. Abdullah topscored with 38 runs. Adil Islam, Usman Qureshi and Muneeb Ali took 3, 2, 2 wickets respectively. PISJ-ES reached the target by losing only one wicket. Adil Islam's unbeaten 42 won him the Man of the Final award.
Special awards: Best batsman of the tournament - Abdulla of YACA. Best bowler - Hannan Dar of YACA. Best all-rounder - Adil Islam Khan of PISJ-ES.
Football
The first match between PISJ-ES and PIS Taif ended in a 2-all draw. After the league matches, PISJ-ES and PIS Taif qualified for the final. After an evenly matched first half PISJ-ES blanked the rival at 3-0. Best player of the tournament: Hamza Mughal of PISJ-ES.
Table tennis
Zakaria Saad Nadwi stole the show in this indoor game. Right from the word go he dominated and helped YACA beat PIS Taif in the final for title. He also won the best player award.
The awarding ceremony, which was organized by PISJ-ES at the Salt n Pepper Restaurant, was attended by PISJ-ES Principal Esar Hussain Shah, Vice Principal Yasmeen Suleman, Director Finance and Administration Saher Kamran, SCC Development Manager Nadeem Nadvi and Zulfiqar Chaudhry from WPCA and representatives from sponsors.
Principal Shah thanked the guests, sponsors, participants and all those who contributed and supported to make this event a grand success. He also appreciated the effort of Hamid Rasheed who played a vital part in organizing this sports festival. PISJ-ES also awarded shields to the players who represented Saudi Arabia cricket team in different age groups from the school.
The awardees: Imran Nasir - captian, U-19 team; Syed Hamza Mohsin - captain, U-15 team and selected for Asia Eleven; Mohammad Zubair - vice captain, U-15 team; Raza Zameer - wicketkeeper-batsman in U-15, U-17 and U-19 teams; Adil Islam Khan - left-arm fast bowler, U-15 team and selected for Asia Eleven; Muneeb Ali Vistro - U-15 team; Abdullah Khurram - U-15 team; Razaur Rehman - U-17 team; Ali Qasim Naqvi - U-17 team.
PISJ-ES also awarded shields to Furrukh Shehbaz (Jonson Control), Qadeer Malik (Contraco) Zulfiqar Chaudhry (Crown Steel), Uzair Khan (Fuchs Petrolium) Junaid Iskander (WPCA); Nadeem Nadwi (SCC) and Hamid Saeed Afandi (SCC). __
