Afzal, Nadeem and Shoaib excel in Dopco Cup tourney

Afzal Saleem blasted his individual score of 170 runs, Nadeem Amin hit an unbeaten 125 in just 53 balls and Shoaib scalped 5 wickets when My Care Hala, Dopco Stars, Crown Steel and Al Saudi XI qualified for the last four of the Dopco Premier Cup which is being organized by WPCA and sponsored by Dopco Company here.
My Care Hala batting first against Usman Gems lost openers early but dependable Waqas topscored with 68 and along with Qazzafi (30) added 93 runs. But it again slumped to 186-6 from 121-2. Later skipper Azeem played sensibly to compile 66 to take the team to 275. Zahid Anwer had 3-30, Kashan 2-33, Imran Sarwar 2-36 and Waqas 2-45 while Asif got one.
In reply, Imran Choudhry (63 in 33 balls) and Moazzam (23) took Usman Gems to 90 without loss. Then Kashif and Faheem struck in quick succession to take 4 wickets for just 3 runs to reduce Gems to 93-4 from where they never recovered and were all out for 219. Waqas made 27, Zahid 25 and Asif 24. Kashif took 2-30, Mohammed 2-33, Faheem 2-44 and Waqas 2-48. Umar claimed one wicket.
Al Saudi XI put into bat by Zultec lost first wicket early but Afzal blasted 17 fours and 2 sixes to make 170. Along with Sarfaraz (77) he added 172 runs for the third wicket. The team thus tallied 329-9 in 40 overs. Zahid made 23. Veteran Khalid Iqbal grabbed 4-61, Jawwad Sagheer 2-65 while Imad, Abdullah and Bilal got one wicket each. While chasing Zultec was in the hunt till Abdullah Essa was at the crease. But once he fell for 96 the Zultec fight vanished. Bilal made 30, Jawwad 27 and Anis Malik 23. Nadeem Javed claimed 3-29, Dr. Qamar 2-29, Nadeem Saad 2-61 and Afzal 2-47. Sarfaraz got one wicket. Dopco Stars piled up 279 against Crown Steel as Hashim hit 71, Shahbaz 43, Khurram 32, Riaz Khan 27 and Ali 22. Shoaib Ali grabbed 5-55, Shafeeq 3-38 and Imran one. Crown Steel, while chasing, lost Shafeeq off first ball and from there it never recovered. Ahmadullah made 63, Abid Naseem and Hussain Bhatti hit 30 each, and Fahad 25. Khurram took 3-45, Shahbaz 2-27 while Riaz and Mehboob got one each.
Mazco XI was bowled out for 235 by Asian Plastic Factory (APF). Its main scorers were Rashid Malik 50, Saamer 41 and Waheed 26. Murtuza grabbed 3-42, Chand 2-42 while Amjad, Arshad and Imran claimed one wicket each. In reply APF was home with 236-2 in just 102 balls, thanks to skipper Nadeem Amin who smashed 21 fours and 4 sixes for an unbeaten 125. Imran Niaz blasted 88 in 41 balls with 13 fours and 4 sixes. They produced 214 runs for the second wicket in 90 balls. __
