Corruption Commission, CIB to look into lapses By Abdullah Al-Maqati Okaz/Saudi Gazette DHULUM – Ministry of Health fact-finding committees are discussing the reasons for the recent shortcomings in the performance of some health sectors and hospitals. The committees are now preparing reports and recommendations to tackle the reasons for these shortcomings. The Ministry of Health Director General of the General Administration for Follow-up Dr. Muhammad Abu Habsha revealed to Okaz/Saudi Gazette that the ministry is also liaising with authorities like the National Anti-Corruption Commission and the Control and Investigation Board (CIB). He said: “Among the functions of the Administration is to monitor performance and carry out decisions and monitor the performance of hospitals and health centers in general from technical and administrative aspects.” He pointed out that the ministry acts against undisciplined employees and utilizes the electronic fingerprinting system to prevent shortcomings, achieve performance standards and ensure the ideal use of materials in its facilities. He said: “The General Administration for Follow-up conducts investigations on technical and administrative violations and participates in investigation committees. Investigations into medical errors are done by committees of consultant doctors which are directed by the General Administration from the administrative aspect.” Dr. Habsha also revealed that there are numerous ways of submitting complaints to the ministry – through personal visits, letters, cables, or the ministry's website. The Administration receives complaint cables sent to the King, the Minister of Health or directly to the minister's adviser and supervisor general of the Administration. The complaints are studied, then special committees are formed which investigate the matter. The committee then prepares reports before any final recommendations are made. __
