filled sports day at Jawahir By Zarin Raza Sports is an integral part of education. The Junior American Section of Jawahir Al Riyadh International School held an entertaining sports day on Feb.15. The entire school was beautifully adorned with balloons and streamers. The sports day commenced with the recitation of verses from the Qur'an and was followed by fun-filled activities like acrobats and flag march. Students competed in various events such as running, lemon spoon race, book balancing race, ball balancing, relay etc. Through sports we aim to improve physical fitness amongst students as it gives them another platform to excel. The proud winners received their medals from Rafia Faisal, vice principal, who encouraged them to perform better. The sports day came to an end with Saudi national anthem.A fun fair for children A delightful children's fun fair was organized at Thamer International School, Jeddah on Thursday, Feb.16 by Syeda Najiha. The senior students of grades 11 and 12 enthusiastically participated in planning and skillfully executing the event. The fair held plenty of games for all age groups, good food and an enthralling fun-filled atmosphere. The host dressed as a clown entertained the audience which added more excitement to the event. Juniors test their physical fitness By Nisma Rafiq Sports day at Pakistan International School was clearly a splendid one. The audience spurred with loads of excitement. Little girls in white welcomed the chief guest Ashwag with headmistress, Aaliya. The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Ar Rehman by Abdullah Mohammad Azam followed by translation from Abdullah Shafi. Ruqsana Bano hosted the event and the ribbon cutting ceremony officially declared the sports meet open for juniors. Before the games began students, guests and teachers sang the national anthems of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The welcome song “We are happy children to welcome you” further captivated the spectators. It was followed by March Past by young boys and then frog race, rabbit race, hurdle race, relay race, lemon race, hula hoop competition, extraordinary gymnastic display and so on. At the end the headmistress said that sports is an important activity in child's life. It helps students in academics and teamwork. She also said that champions are not born, but made and these sorts of activities help in nurtuing a champion. __
