SEC in deal to establish ladies tailoring workshop
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 05 - 06 - 2017

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has signed a cooperation agreement with Albir Society in Al-Ghala, Al-Laith Province, with the aim to support and sponsor the society's activities and establish ladies tailoring workshop to hone the skills of a number of young men and women in this field and increase the income of their families and upgrade their standards of living, in line with the company's social responsibility program.
The signatories of the agreement were Senior Vice President for Corporate Communications & PR Humoud bin Awdah Al-Ghubaini and Chairman of Board of Directors of Albir Society in Al-Ghala Khalid Al-Adhli.
Al-Ghubaini said the company aims to support the needy categories in community and raise awareness about the importance of charity work in all regions of the Kingdom, pointing out that the agreement will contribute to develop the beneficiary families and create employment opportunities for young men and women after being trained on sewing skills at the workshop.
He further said the workshop aims to train and qualify young men and women aged 25-40 years on tailoring ladies garments from cotton and silk and other materials, which will create a permanent income for the beneficiaries and enable them to become self-dependent and develop their own businesses.
Al-Adhli praised the initiative of the SEC to help establishing ladies tailoring workshop, saying that the agreement will contribute to achieving the society's aspirations of establishing a well-equipped workshop to provide the opportunity for young men and women as well as other women to hone their skills in this field.
SEC sponsors and supports dozens of conferences and scientific and cultural events with the aim of raising community, health and environmental awareness for various sectors of society in all cities and provinces of the Kingdom. Last year, the company has provided financial and in-kind support to more than 200 charitable societies specialized in the welfare of low-income families, orphans, Down syndrome, disabled, and cancer patients, as well as other societies working in the fields of social care, in order to enhance the role of these societies in providing the integrated work to their beneficiaries. — SG
