MAKKAH – Training young men and women, adopting their innovative ideas and helping them build a secure future for themselves and families is a top priority, said Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry Board Chairman Maher Saleh Jamal. Talking during the recently held Young Photographer and Producers Forum in the holy city, he said: “We have set up several committees to qualify youth and hone their skills through intensive courses and workshops. “Besides, we have specifically set up a committee focusing only on male and female entrepreneurs.” The chamber recognizes the importance of tapping into the skills and capabilities of youth who play a pivotal role in the overall development of the country, he said. “For any society to start off on the right foot it needs to make good use of the brains of its young members. “Our youth have proven more than once they are qualified and capable of playing responsible roles in the economic and development plans set by the government.” Meanwhile, the chamber's committee of male and female entrepreneurs has recently organized a financial accounting workshop for young people who are not specialized in accounting. Over 80 participants attended the workshop and were shown how to prepare and analyze financial statements and differentiate between long and short-term assets as well as property rights. Muhamamd Al-Zayedi, member of the committee, said the committee targets young entrepreneurs and arms them with the skills they will need to overcome the obstacles encountered when they start a new project. He said: “Most entrepreneurs don't have enough experience and knowledge when they start a business. “We want to develop necessary skills and increase their chances of success.”
