In solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mahd Al Uloom Int'l School, celebrated the Kingdom's National Day on Sept. 26 with great zest and patriotic fervor in its premises. A colorful cultural program depicting different aspects of Saudi culture, history and heritage was organized. The students and teachers attired in complete Saudi costumes brought an Arabian aura for the program. The ceremony commenced with recitation of verses from holy Quran. Mansoorali, superintendent of the school, extended a word of welcome to the dignitaries and the gathering. Yahya Kahaleel Noorani, manager of the school, hoisted the Kingdom's national flag and spoke on the occasion. He stressed the importance of the day and the generosity of the Saudi government towards the expatriates. Principal Dr. Firoz Mulla gave the message for the day and briefly shed light on the developments of the country in his speech. To highlight the significance of the day, the students also delivered speeches both in Arabic and in English. The school premises turned into a kaleidoscope of colors as the cultural shows and other performances got under way. Adding color to the function was the Saudi folk dance of students, which depicted true patriotism and solidarity for their second home. The scintillating dance performance left the audience spellbound. Mansoor C.K. proposed the vote of thanks .The event came to a close with the national anthem by the school band. The girls' section of MIS also celebrated the Kingdom's National Day on Monday, Sept. 26. The ceremony started with a recitation of verses from the Holy Qur'an followed by the inaugurating the ceremony by Ms. Ahlam Saleh Al Harbi, manager of girls' section. On this occasion the Saudi flag was also hoisted. Ms. Salma Shaik, principal, in her speech cheered all by congratulating them on this valued event that carried the real patriotic feeling towards our beloved Kingdom. The students of Grade 1 and 2 performed royal traditional dance followed by speeches of students marking the occasion and expressing their love to the beloved country Saudi Arabia and indebtedness to late King Abdul Aziz for his esteemed efforts to unify the Kingdom. The students of Grade 6-10 exhibited the traditional clothes and food of Saudi Arabia. The ceremony came to a conclusion with the singing of the Saudi national anthem. — SG
