The Bangladesh community in the Eastern Province celebrated the 37th Independence Day of their country with cultural presentations, nationalistic speeches recalling the sacrifices of national leaders, and prayers. The venue of the celebration was the Bangladesh International School in Dammam (BSD). Students of the school staged a play on how the country won its independence. The celebration started with singing of the national anthem and the hoisting of the national flag by the principal of the school, Mosharraf Hossain, and Shamsul Islam, the school academic coordinator. Dulari Pradeep, vice principal, delivered an inspiring speech citing the sacrifice of the martyrs, while students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 performed a number of cultural dances. Patriotic songs, poems, and traditional Bengali dances were also staged. A magic show was also presented by a student of Grade 9. The event was concluded with a vote of thanks by vice-principal Kalam Azad. __
