A woman in her 40s and her relative suffered injuries as a fire broke out in their small two-bedroom home. Civil Defense teams controlled the fire before it could spread to other areas. According to preliminary Civil Defense report, the fire started as children played with match sticks. 15 shops shut down in Taif TAIF — Taif municipality has launched a field campaign against violating shops and shut down 15 outlets and seized more than 400 rotten food units. The municipality teams registered many violations including workers with no health certificates and lack of hygiene in restaurants and cafeterias. Many other shops were issued warnings to correct their violations and they have been placed under constant monitoring. Over 60,000 fake products seized MAKKAH — Observation teams from the Ministry of Commerce and Investment have seized more than 60,000 different fake products in Makkah and Madinah area. More than 1,000 fake products were seized in Makkah area. In Madinah, ministry teams stormed a warehouse that contained more than 5,000 body creams and more than 9,000 shampoo bottles. They also seized machines that were used to print fake brands. In Taif, the teams seized more than 44,000 shampoo bottles and other fake products. Large quantity of hashish seized JEDDAH — Attempts to smuggle over 6 ton of hashish, two million amphetamine pills and more than 600 kg of cocaine were foiled last month, a Ministry of Interior report said. The ministry's official spokesman said desperate attempts to smuggle drugs in the Kingdom have been noticed recently. He said security officials and the Customs Department are standing firmly against these attempts and are aware of the latest tricks used by the smugglers. Bid to smuggle drugs foiled JEDDAH — The Customs Department at King Abdulaziz International Airport has foiled an attempt to smuggle more than 90,000 drug pills. Custom officials arrested a man and a woman who arrived here for the Haj pilgrimage. The pills were equally divided in two bags. An official said that drug dealers are active to smuggle drugs into the Kingdom especially during the Haj season.
