FB Rhinos hit again; Cool Guys stay ahead
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 04 - 06 - 2016

JEDDAH — FB Rhinos maximized their handicap to beat Pin Slasher and be reputed as the Team of the Week for the second time, while Cool Guys kept Lane Axis groping to be in total control of the match and sustained league-leadership at the end of the 22nd session of the FEDBG-FMBL 17th meet at the Bowling City here.
With Oliver Robles and Rod Lofamia combining their brilliance in calling the shots for the Rhinos, they planned the game on four men and two ladies scheme wherein Mariz Resano visibly excelled with 666 series inspiring teammates with games of 236, 208 and 222. Such display encouraged Simeon Dellosa, Imelda Sayago, Robles, Lofamia and Melo Amano to solidly backup Resano with 638, 625, 623, 599 and 576. This cohesive teamwork placed Rhinos in advantage and though they relinquished the scratch deals at 1,077-1,043 and 1,127-1,056 they were favored in handicapped sets at 1,240-1,154 and 1,253-1,204 for 2,493-2,358 running totals into third game.
Left 255 pins to work on Pin Slasher rushed to an endgame rally with Roger Daquioag and May Lourdes igniting teammates with 231 and 222 which was positively responded with 219, 198, 190 and 180 by Carling Constantino, Dan Ednave, James Galvan and captain Dariel Loquias. This gave Pin Slasher the last game but in close escape of 1,239-1,234 so that, albeit they outpointed Rhinos at 12-10 the latter had the spotlight in 3,727-3,597 for the Team of the Week honor.
Meanwhile, Cool Guys probed Lane Axis with 1,157-1,143 as both teams hardly met their averages on the opening game. It was on the second game wherein Cool Guys gained momentum and walloped Lane Axis with 1,298-1,094. Such a marginal press seemingly flattened Lane Axis that they failed in all their recovery attempts in which Cool Guys took advantage with accelerated barter of marks to once again leave rivals with 1,199-1,120 for total eclipse of 22-0 (3,654-3,357). Nezar Alhamwi topped Cool Guys' board with 655 followed by team chief Jun de Dios with 645, Lourdes Punzalan 605, Michelle Mata 593, Rene Punzalan 586 and Randy 570. Jayson Castillo defended the Jay Bengco-captained Lane Axis with 605. Cool Guys sustained beating the flag with computed points of 790, followed by BCT-JBS Pro Shop 763, Micah's Pride 712 and Ekis-8 with 696.5 points completing the top four at the moment.
Male Bowler of the Week this session was Edison Arena who bested the male keglers with 697 leading Trojans in blanking Marinduqueños. Arena led Trojans with games of 220, 221 and 256 with Ed Sardiña and Cloyd Opena solidly backing up with 665 and 629.
James Monteleyola tried a 624 defense for Marinduqueños. Alma Bacero won her second Lady Bowler of the Week title in a back-to-back fashion on similar 675 handicapped series defensively leading Ekis-8 with games 228, 229 and 218 in their 4-18 battle against BCT-JBS Pro Shop. Other matches showed that Casadores beat Four Season at 14-8 (3,680-3,572), Sagmit humbled Liquidators at 20-2 (3,451-3,375) and Micah's Pride trashed Global Intergold 22-0 (3,492-3,207).
