Global Intergold, Lane Axis too hot to handle
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 26 - 02 - 2016

JEDDAH — Powerhouse Danny Bautista propelled Global Intergold to lift the Serge Rivera-captained team into record-breaking performance that made it the Team of the Week at the expense of FB Rhinos submitting marginal tallies of 3,919-3,355 at the end of the 9th session of FEDBG-FMBL 17th meet at Bowling City here.
Bautista placed Global in total control of FB with games of 258, 244 and 217 to be the Bowler of the Week on scratch series record-setting 719. Such tremendous performance inspired Gerry Tano, Pinky Acato, Benjie Cils, Rivera and Gilbert Salindong to support Bautista with 701, 646, 627, 626 and 599, respectively, that set a new record for team handicap series.
This superlative series walloped FB to be submissive on sets of 1,343-1,167, 1,324-1,052 and 1,252-1,136 with only Rene Balangue enabled to defensively block with 619 for the Oliver Robles-captained FB Rhinos. Global Intergold scored perfectly with 50 points to move two notches from the cellar.
Lane Axis also did great in their match against Casadores GBI-TBBGI, where deadly blows of 669, 645, 645 and 630 by TM Ruben Grino, TC Jay Bengco, Cesar Monares and Aileen Miralbuna crippled their opponents as the 600 markers of Benj Espinosa and Bing Amolo could not wall the Tope Sayson and Tommy Kamal-skippered team. Such 4-man blows had Lane Axis in command of the game as Obie Ycasas and Jayson Castillo supported with 555 and 580 that helped empty rivals with sets of 1,296-1,193, 2,271-1,131 and 1,257-1,199.
This match was signed at 3,724-3,523 that helped Lane Axis pocket 43 points to sit third with 292 computed points. Former third placed Casadored slid to 7th with 269 points.
Four Season and Cool Guys made news with their classic encounter. Albeit the former came out on top, it found the latter a team to reckon with on their slim escapes of 1,205-1,202 and 1,313-1,297 and 1,245-1,248 for a 20-2 (3,763-3,747) conclusion.
Hauling most for Four Season was Team Manager Rene Ocampo, who led with 665. Archie Santos, Frank Afurong, Marie Gumpal, George Mangaliman and Richard Antonio pitched in with 642, 638, 6331 629 and 556. Team captain Jun de Dios (651), Nezar Al Hamwi (688), Lourdes Punzalan (642), Salic Mudag (597), Michelle Mata (596) and Rene Punzalan (563) saved Cool Guys of total eclipse on the last game.
In other matches: Trojans, topped by Robert de Guzman (660), beat second-running BCT-JBS defended by Jimmy Aragones (652) at 18-4 (3,670-3,516); Dariel Loquias-headed Pin Slashers defeated Ekis-8 at 14-8 (3,715-3,645).
Lady Bowler-of-the-Week Natty Caringal totaled 675 helped lift Pin Slashers, which also received solid supports from Andy Yumena (658) and Roger Daquioag (639).
Malou Gime shielded the Ernie Geslani-captained Ekis with 666; Sagmit Dental Clinic outpointed Micah's Pride on their well-fought match signed 16-6 (3,704-3,663); Liquidators-3 blanked Marinduqueños at 3,719-3,254. Melo Dianco, Nap Patayan and Team Captain Marcelo Manalo devastated opponents with 700, 686 and 647, while James Paulme was the lone 600-marker for the James Monteleyola-lead squad.
