Stray camels caused the death of a police officer here on Sunday. The victim's colleague was also injured as stray camels veered on the road and the vehicle of the victims crashed into them. The incident took place in Al-Bida governorate on Al-Bida-Al-Sharq Road. The police officer at the wheels swerved off the road to avoid hitting the camels causing the vehicle to topple over. The injured police officer is still undergoing treatment. The deceased, Capt. Saud Ahmad, was buried in Madinah as per his wishes. Two Asians held for selling expired food MADINAH — Two Asian expatriates were arrested for distributing expired meat in the central area. Madinah Police spokesman Col. Fahd Al-Ghannam said a police patrol spotted a vehicle frequently parked near hotels and residential compounds. The police inspected the vehicle and found waste bags of expired food products and meat. The vehicle was driven by two Asian men who distributed and sold the expired food products and meat to the hotels and residential compounds. The police seized the waste bags and arrested the two. 7 establishments shut down for MADINAH — The municipality shut down seven establishments for multiple violations. Madinah Municipality Shopping Centers Affairs Director Mohammad Sulaihim said the municipality organized an inspection campaign throughout last week. The inspectors visited various establishments day and night and recorded multiple violations which led to the shutdown of a shopping center, a candy factory, a bakery and four restaurants. The most common violations were over stacking the kitchen with food products, cracked floors, exposed electric cables, incorrect storage of food, unhygienic work conditions and lack of health certificates for some workers. Boy stuck in mall escalator TAIF — A 6-year-old expatriate boy got stuck in an escalator of a shopping mall here on Saturday. Taif Civil Defense Col. Nasser Al-Sharif said the boy was rescued after officials looked over the surveillance camera footage and monitored the operation. The boy was playing on the escalator when suddenly his clothes got dragged by its engine. Shoppers rushed to pull him out and broke the glass of the railing.
