9,851 inspection campaigns in a year

MADINAH — The municipality ran a total of 9,851 inspection campaigns during the past year. Madinah Municipality official Mohammad Sulaihim said the campaigns targeted independent food establishments, butcheries, fish markets, restaurants, vegetable markets and fast food chains in shopping centers. The municipality shut down 143 establishments. A total of 104 violation notices were issued and SR104,700 netted in fines. The municipality seized more than 13,542 kg of rotten food. The municipality also issued 3,079 warning notices to workers of establishments and fired 358 workers for repeated violations.
