Police seized 268 bottles of liquor from a truck driver. Taif Police reported an Arab expatriate driving a truck for carrying cattle was pulled over for inspection on Taif-Riyadh Road. The driver was acting nervously when the officers approached him. The officers found 268 bottles of liquor in 60 cartons inside the truck. Truck with 20 tons of firewood seized MADINAH — Agricultural officers in Madinah seized a truck for illegally transporting 20 tons of firewood. Director General of Madinah Agricultural Affairs Ibrahim Al-Hijaili said the directorate has banned the import of several materials into the Kingdom because they were deemed to be harmful to the environment and negatively affecting crops. He said members of the public are encouraged to contact the directorate if they see anyone transporting or storing material harmful to the environment. Decomposed body found on mountain MAKKAH — A decomposed body was found in Mount Wadi Jalil. Makkah Police spokesman Col. Ati Al-Qurashi said people living near the mount reported a strange stench permeating in the area. People searched for the source of the stench and found the body wrapped in a piece of cloth and called the police. Forensic tests revealed that the body was at least 10 days old. Police are still trying to identity of the body and determine the cause of death. 104 blocks of hashish seized from vehicle JAZAN — Police seized 104 blocks of hashish from a vehicle following a chase. When officers at a checkpoint grew suspicious of a vehicle, they asked the driver to pull up but he refused to comply. On chasing the vehicle the officers realized the driver and the passengers in the vehicle were armed. They however managed to stop the vehicle but the driver and passengers escaped with their weapons. Police inspected the vehicle and found 104 blocks of hashish hidden inside. Firefighters plug leak in fuel truck RIYADH — The Civil Defense averted a major disaster when firefighters managed to plug a leak in fuel truck on Khurais Road in Riyadh. When the Civil Defense control room was informed of the gas leak, a rescue team rushed to the scene and pulled the truck away to safety before attempting to plug the leak. A similar incident in Riyadh three years ago led to a massive explosion, killing 22 people and injuring 131 others. Stray camel causes death of newlywed HOFOUF — A stray camel forced a vehicle to swerve off the road resulting in the death of a passenger and injury to the driver. Eastern Province Red Crescent official spokesman Fahd Al-Ghamdi said a newlywed couple was driving on the highway toward Al-Jisha when a camel abruptly crossed the road. The man swerved the vehicle off the road crashing into the side of the road. The paramedics found the body of the bride and her husband severely injured. The victims were transported to a nearby hospital hospital.
