Car dealer shops are violating regulations by parking cars for rent in public parking spaces, according to authorities. Ministry of Transport spokesman, Hathloul Al-Hathloul, said it was illegal for car dealer shops to park more than one vehicle outside of their shop. Every car dealer must have a warehouse to park cars in so they can obtain the license to run a store. Car dealer stores have no excuse in violating the regulation unless they are unlicensed and therefore have no warehouse and are breaking the law by simply parking cars around the store. The ministry has received a number of complaints from the citizens and will penalize car dealers violating parking regulations. Haia members face assault allegations RIYADH — Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (Haia) are being investigated by the Ministry of Interior over allegations of assault. A source from the ministry said an incident spread on social and traditional media where Haia members chased two girls who were near a shopping center, dragged them away and assaulted them. The ministry has opened the case for investigation and the Haia members in question have been suspended for interrogation. 82 arrested in three months for littering RIYADH — The municipality arrested 82 people for littering over the past three months. Riyadh Municipality cleaning director, Nasser Al-Qidairy, said the municipality disposed of over 100,000 cubic meters of litter. The municipality has also cleaned over 74,000 cubic meters of junkyards over the past three months, and removed over 28,000 cubic meters of litter from sewage canals. The municipality also ran an unannounced inspection campaign on restaurants in shopping centers and recorded several violations, including workers without health licenses, exposed food, unhygienic kitchens and expired food products. Female student takes gun to the university JAZAN — The police found an unlicensed gun in the backpack of a university student on Monday. Jazan Police spokesman, Lt. Gen. Mohammad Al-Harbi, said the police received reports of a student who had a gun hidden in her backpack while she was in a girls' university. When asked about the weapon, the student said it belonged to her husband. Police summoned the husband who confessed that he hid the gun in his wife's backpack so he would not be caught with an unlicensed weapon. Minor arrested for car theft MAKKAH — The police arrested a minor for a series of car thefts and arson acts. Makkah Police spokesman, Col. Ati Al-Qurashi, said the police received four reports of cars being stolen and later found burnt. The police investigated the incidents and found a consistent pattern where a thief would steal vehicles east of Makkah and drive them a few blocks before stealing valuables in the vehicle and then setting it alight.
