Maher Abbas Saudi Gazette RIYADH — A court in Riyadh has sentenced a Saudi citizen to seven years in prison and 800 lashes for armed robbery and car theft. Al-Shefa police station received a report from a car showroom owner that a Saudi citizen asked to test-drive a car and then fled. A while later, Wadi Al-Dawaser police station was notified of the armed assault of an Arab resident by a Saudi. The attacker asked the victim to hand him his money. When he refused, the Saudi fired a gun at him but the victim managed to flee. A police team was formed to investigate. They were successful in locating the offender and found the stolen car parked in front of his house. They searched his house and found a machine gun and bullets. The offender was arrested and referred to court.
