A cashier of a big company allegedly embezzled SR700,000 and claimed that he was kidnapped and the said money was stolen from him. Makkah Police spokesman Col. Ati Al-Qurashi said the 40-year-old Yemeni cashier reported the theft claiming he was kidnapped by two anonymous men disguised as security guards who drove up to him in a black vehicle as he was exiting his office and was on his way to the bank. He said they took him to a secluded area claiming it was for security reasons and beat him up and stole the money from him. Police began a thorough investigation and found glaring inconsistencies in the cashier's statements. Besides, there were not injury marks on the cashier's body to prove that he was beaten up. After sustained interrogation, the cashier finally conceded his lies and that he had stolen the money and deposited most of it to buy a plot of land in Yemen, and only SR61,000 was left with him. 16 held for role in over 30 crimes RIYADH — Sixteen people from different gangs were arrested here for their alleged role in over 30 separate crimes.
