A Mujahideen patrol in Aldair Bani Malik governorate in Jazan province on Saturday thwarted an attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of live ammunition into the country. The spokesman for Mujahideen Forces in Jazan, Khalid Abdullah Bin Quziez, explained that during a night patrol, the team spotted the suspicious movement of a vehicle in Valley Dafa. The officers followed the vehicle, which eventually overturned. The driver managed to escape leaving behind 8,682 rounds of live ammunition in the vehicle, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Haia dismisses car chase rumor RIYADH — The Traffic Department has refuted allegations circulating on social media that a vehicle belonging to the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (Haia) crashed into another vehicle it was pursuing. Riyadh Traffic Department spokesman Col. Ali Al-Rashidi said the commission was not involved in a chase when the accident happened on in Riyadh early Thursday morning near Exit 24. The accident involved a Haia vehicle and another car. The car toppled over as a result of the collision and both vehicles were damaged, but there were no injuries recorded. After the investigation, officers concluded that the Haia vehicle was parked on the side of the road when the other car collided with it at speed. Officers said the driver of the other car had full responsibility for the accident. Ethiopian woman executed in Taif TAIF — An Ethiopian woman convicted of murder was executed in Taif on Sunday, the Interior Ministry announced. Jinat Damti Farid was found guilty of killing Ghaliah Bint Eidha Bin Saeed Al-Harthi, a Saudi national, by striking her with an ax on her head and back several times while she was praying, the ministry said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency. The Ethiopian woman escaped from the scene, stealing an undisclosed sum of money and two gold rings from her victim's hand, the statement said. She was eventually arrested by security officers. The General Court in Taif found the Ethiopian guilty of murder and sentenced her to death. The verdict was endorsed by the Appeals Court and the Supreme Court and a royal order was issued to execute the woman. 15-year-old girl killed in accident TABUK — A girl died after she was run over by a speeding car. Tabuk Red Crescent spokesman Khalid Al-Enizi said they received reports of a 15-year-old girl who died after being run over by a speeding car. The car was driving on King Abdulaziz Road when it hit the girl. She was immediately taken to a local hospital, but died on the way. Many citizens in Tabuk have demanded the municipality install pavements and pedestrian walkways to avoid such accidents. The municipality said a walkway would not solve the problem of accidents, as they happen when drivers or pedestrians violate the traffic safety regulations. The municipality also said it was working to build pavements and make the road more pedestrian-friendly. Man trapped on mountain rescued ABHA — A man was trapped for several hours in a mountainous area of Sahab Park in Abha. Asir Civil Defense Col. Mohammad Al-Asimi said a man in his 30s was trapped in a mountainous area near Habu Plateau Road in Sahab Park. The Civil Defense managed to locate the man and rescue him. Al-Asimi said the man did not sustain any injuries and is in a good health.
