A police officer was injured in a road accident in Baha city on Friday. Baha Red Crescent spokesman Emad Al-Zahrani said the officer's car toppled over near Al-Nakhlah Roundabout. Witnesses pulled the officer out of the car and took him to hospital. Road accidents, including hit and runs, resulted in several deaths and injuries in Baha last week. 59,000 crimes in Jeddah in 4 months JEDDAH — Police recorded a total of 59,000 crimes and violations in the past four months through inspection campaigns in Jeddah governorate. Jeddah Police Director Lt. Gen. Masoud Al-Udwani said the police organized inspection campaigns in all areas of the governorate. The violations included theft, vandalism, drug dealing, selling alcohol, exploitation, sheltering illegal expatriates, operating a business without license and others. He said 19 wanted criminals, 59,421 illegal expatriates, 621 unlicensed street sellers and 1,149 beggars, including 698 women and 363 children, were arrested during the period. Most of the crimes were reported by citizens. Al-Udwani said the citizen's role in reporting crime was vital for maintaining the safety and security of society. 7 hurt as car crashes into street lamp in Taif MAKKAH — Seven people were injured in a road accident in Taif on Friday. Makkah Red Crescent spokesman Abdulaziz Baduman said the seven passengers were in a vehicle that crashed into a lamppost. The victims were transported to a nearby hospital. One of the victims was in a critical condition, two suffered from severe injuries and the other four escaped with minor injuries. Expat blacksmith dies from electric shock SAMTAH, JAZAN — An expatriate working as a blacksmith in a village in Samtah governorate died from an electric shock. A Samtah Red Crescent spokesman reported that one of the equipment the man was using touched the electric meter accidentally and caused an electric shock, which killed him on the spot. The neighbors rushed to the scene and took him to Samtah General Hospital. A medical report revealed that the expatriate's heart had stopped beating and he had died before arriving in the hospital. Thieves break into real estate office, steal safe RAFHA — A gang of thieves broke into a real estate office in the northern border city of Rafha and stole a safe. Northern Borders Police spokesman Col. Uwaid Al-Enizi said police received reports from a citizen that his office was broken into and an office safe was stolen. He said the safe contained money, credit cards, insurance documents and other valuables. Police started an investigation, but no suspects have been identified so far. Police later found the safe abandoned in the outskirts of the city. Four arrested over young man's murder DAMMAM — Police investigating the murder of a young man two weeks ago in Dammam have arrested four suspects, Eastern Province Police spokesman Col. Ziyad Al-Ruqaiti said the youth's body was found in front of a mosque in the city. Investigations confirmed that the body belonged to a Saudi man in his 20s and he was shot in the head. Police arrested the suspected gunman and three accomplices, all of them Saudis in their 30s and 40s.
