A man died after drowning in a well on Friday. Taif Civil Defense Col. Nasser Al-Sharif said officers hauled the body of a 31-year-old man from a well in Sidairah governorate, south of Taif city. Al-Sharif said the man fell into the 15-meter-deep well and drowned. By the time the Civil Defense was notified of the incident, the man was already dead. Border guards seize 340 kg of hashish JAZAN — Border guards on Saturday seized 340 kilograms of hashish after foiling several smuggling attempts in Jazan and Madinah. The guards seized 258 kg of hashish from people who attempted to smuggle across the border with Yemen. Border Guard spokesman Col. Saher Al-Harby said they foiled three such attempts. In once incident, the guards arrested a number of men trying to cross the borders from Yemen into the Kingdom on foot and found 100 kg of hashish in their possessions and seized it. On the same day, guards arrested another group of men and found 58 kg of hashish in their possession. In a third incident, the guards arrested four men for attempting to smuggle 100 kg of hashish into the country. Meanwhile, border guards in Madinah seized 82 kg of hashish, which smugglers tried to bring into the Kingdom by boat. Al-Harby said the boat was intercepted near a port in the province. When the guards spotted the boat, four Yemeni men on board began throwing some of their packages into the sea. The guards arrested the men and found 82 kg of hashish in their possession. Guards were scanning the sea to find the dumped packages. Cop killed as drunk driver crashes into police car BURAIDAH — An officer died in a road accident involving a suspected drunk driver on Saturday. Qassim Police spokesman Capt. Badr Al-Suhaibani said they received reports of an accident resulting in the death of one of its officers. The officer's car was parked on the side of Onaizah-Al-Badaie Highway when a speeding vehicle crashed into the police car and killed the officer. The police suspect the driver of the vehicle was drunk as the police have found in his car a liquid they suspect is alcohol. Amphetamine pills seized at Hudaitha RIYADH — Custom Control seized a total 953,758 amphetamine pills hidden inside wooden plates at Al-Hudaitha checkpoint. Director of Al-Hudaithah Customs Ibrahim Al-Enizi said 20 wooden plates were used to seal a box of building blocks, but on closer inspection, officers found them filled with amphetamine pills. The case was forwarded to the pertinent authorities for further processing.
