JEDDAH — After about 30 days the people in the Kandarah neighborhood of Jeddah endured sewage leaking into the streets in front of their homes, mosques and schools, teams from the National Water Company (NWC) moved to address the problem, according to residents who spoke to Okaz/Saudi Gazette about their suffering. The residents had voiced fears about the possibility of sewage seeping into drinking water tanks in their homes. However, NWC spokesman Khalid Maqbool dismissed the complaints, saying it was impossible for the company to ignore reports of leakage of wastewater without taking any action for 30 days. He stressed that the field teams will definitely address the issue promptly as soon as a complaint is received. He said that the company does not go easy on providing support for residents in the affected neighborhoods and takes all reports and complaints very seriously.
