JEDDAH — Residents of Al-Adl neighborhood in south Jeddah are complaining about sewage leakages that threaten the foundation of their houses. Sewage has been leaking onto the unpaved streets and mixing with the already problematic piles of waste. The residents charge that this is a serious environmental hazard that has been ignored so far. A spokesman for the municipality said the civic authorities were dealing with the problem. He, however, said the municipality was not responsible for addressing the sewage issue as it falls under the National Water Company (NWC).
