JEDDAH — A drinking water pipe in Jeddah that has been leaking for months has not been fixed yet by the contractor responsible for it, local residents claimed. Bin Baz Street in north Jeddah is constantly flooded with water, causing the asphalting on the road to erode. The road is full of potholes that are damaging cars. A citizen said he informed the National Water Company (NWC) three months ago about the leakage. However, the company has not dealt with the problem, he claimed. This is a waste of public money, he added, since the street now has to be re-asphalted.This problem is also causing traffic jams as drivers try to avoid the potholes in the street. A source at the NWC said the leakage is due to a burst pipe and repairing it takes a few hours only. However, the contractor has not responded to the company's notifications, the source said.
