Need to groom excellence in students: Kotalwar

Hemant Kotalwar, Charge d' Affaires at Indian Embassy in Riyadh, stressed on the necessity to properly recognize and groom various modes of excellence among students.
"Some students are good at numbers; they create a benchmark in mathematics, while some excel in languages to become lawyers, writers, poets, teachers etc. Those who understand visual very well can become designers and photographers, Kotalwar said while addressing the 31st Annual Day of the International Indian School Riyadh (IISR).
Kotalwar said intelligence is multifaceted and appreciated the students for doing extremely well in the extra curricular activities like debating competition, science exhibition, sports etc. He said the school is doing well and the credit should be given to the principal of school for its excellent report card.
He congratulated and thanked the teachers and administrative staff for producing such good results and also for contributing their best to the education of the children. He said, "It's the unanimous task of all, and that contribution has upheld the standard of the school, such that it can be compared to the best schools in India."
On the occasion, Kotalwar released the School Magazine "ANCHOR" with the Principal Dr. S.M.Shaukat Perwez and distributed gold medals to the meritorious students.
Hifzur Rahman, second secretary and observer for Indian schools, was the guest of honor and distributed trophies to meritorious students for achieving academic excellence.
In his welcome address principal of IISR Perwez said that the school is a mirror of the society so students and teachers should effectively be a role model for others.
Mrs. Hemant Kotalwar graced the occasion as the guest of honor.
Haider Ali, annual day chairman, and Dr. Shafi Ahmed Sattar, chairman, managing committee, also spoke on this occasion.
An excellent display of a variety of dances marked the Annual Day colorful welcome song, meticulous miracle with participatin of KG to eighth class.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Meera Rehman, vice principal boys section. The Annual Day ended with the singing of the national anthem and conducted by Farhat Tasneem.
The function started with recitation of the verses of Holy Qur'an by Master Abrar ul Haq and translated by Master Safwan Ahmed. Flower bouquets were presented to all the guests.
All IISR managing committee members Dilshad Ahmed, Sultan Mazharuddin, Mohammed Naseeruddin, Niaz Omer, and Roji Mavelil Mathew were present along with a large number of community members.
Asma Shah, vice principal girls section, read out the Annual Report 2014-2015 and said "In the secondary school section out of 746 students, 64 students secured CGPA 10 in March 2015."
In the All India Senior Secondary School examinations held in March 2015, out of 649 students 621 Passed with first class and distinction, 44 with second division and 8 students secured third class.
In the science stream, Taha Khursheed came first in the batch with a commendable score of 95.8% and Syed Uzair Ahmed secured the second position with 94.4%. Safiyya Meraj came third in the batch with 93.6%.
In the commerce stream, Haya Khursheed topped with 92.8%, Chindurani Lakshmanan came second with 91% and Tasmia Firdous Faiza Ahmed stood third with 90.6%.
In the Humanities Neya Natrajan secured the first position with 92%, Tayyaba Khan bagged the second position with 88.2% and Arshee Fatima stood third with 86.8%.

Best Student of the year
Rehma Habib Khan and Lakshmi Suresh were declared best student for academic year 2014-15 from girls and Mukhul Chikkara was declared best student from boys.
Farsana Younus and Mohd. Naif Ata received these merit certificates.
Rehan Mohammed Abid of XII, who attended the global young leaders conference organized by United Nations in New York from July 5-16, too was feted. He is the first Indian student from Saudi Arabia, from the total 300 students, who attended the UN meet.
Recipients of the Merit Scholarship for their outstanding performance and achieving All India 11th Rank was clinched by Asma Mohammed of V; 13th rank was won by Syed Sarfaraz of X; 23rd rank was grabbed by Abdullah Mohammed of VII; 52nd rank was secured by K.F. Prince of X.
The school also received best participation award and outstanding performance of our students in NSTSE.
