JEDDAH — The alumni association of Jamia Nizamia, "Old Boys Association of Jamia Nizamia (Bazme Tulba-E-Qadeem Wa Muhibban-E-Jamia Nizamia) one of the leading and oldest Islamic universities in Hyderabad, recently organized a function to fete the pilgrims who performed the Haj this year at a local restaurant here.
Maulana Shah Mohd Qubool Badshah Hussaini was the chief guest of the evening. He said in his speech, "Haj is the fifth pillar of Islam and the most important demonstration of Islamic faith and unity. Undertaking the Haj at least once in a lifetime is a duty for Muslims. Sometimes rich Muslims cannot perform Haj in their whole lives and sometimes the poor perform it. It needs the purity of heart and it depends completely on Allah's command".
He further said, "We should always visit the Prophet's Mosque as the Prophet, pbuh, said in an hadith ‘Whoever visits my grave after my death, my Shafa'at (Intersession) will be necessary (wajib) on him' so we must visit there with respect as our great ancestors did."
He added, "The Prophet's Mosque is one of the most holy places for all Muslims. Unfortunately, due to ignorance or just plain carelessness, many Muslims visiting the mosque do not observe proper manners. Excellent manners are an essential part of the Islamic faith. ‘Adab' and respect is really that important! Do not underestimate the magnitude of respect and etiquette. If we fail in this regard, we can lose our deeds."
Maulana Mufti Syed Sadiq Mohiuddin Faheem and Syed Imaduddin Moazzam Qadri were the guests of honor for the evening. While addressing the gathering Faheem said "Haj is a pillar of Islam and we should perform it with complete transparency of heart and soul and not as for showing off to the people as this kind of worship is not acceptable.
Earlier "Chehl-e-Hadeeth" a book of selected 40 Ahadeeth (Prophet's, pbuh, sayings), which has been composed by Navid Afroze was launched by Maulana Hussaini in the event. This book has five volumes, which will be added in the syllabus of IISJ Class one to five from next year.
Maulana Hafiz Mohd Khan said, "Madinah is a holy city, a holy place so whenever we visit there, we should not waste our time in any other works except worship." In Makkah and Madinah we must be extra diligent in showing respect and dignity in their behavior."
Earlier the program started with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur'an by Qari Mohd Noor Naqshbandi followed by a Naat by Hafiz Mohd Salim Qadri and guest Naat reciter from Hyderabad Qari Tajammul Hussain. The Naat recited by Qari Hussain was very much liked and appreciated by the audience.
Hafiz Mohd Naveed Afroze in his welcome speech said that this is the 23 years running that we are felicitating the pilgrims. Few prominent community members, who are also the lovers of Jamia Nizamia, have been contributing financially for this function regularly. The reason of saying this not to highlight them but to make motivate more people to come forward to help in this noble cause.
Nizamuddin Ghouri has compered the program. Many prominent figures of Alumni of Jamia Nizamia and prominent community members like Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Asimuddin Ansari, Syed Khaja Viqaruddin, Saleem Qadri, Rafat Shah etc... attended the function.
Shawls and plaques were presented to pilgrims from India as well as Jeddah who performed Haj this year. The program concluded with a special supplication by Maulana Abdulsalam.
