JEDDAH — The Old Boys Association of Jamia Nizamia, one of the oldest Islamic universities in Hyderabad, recently organized a reception for a group of pilgrims from the Indian city at a local restaurant here. The function, chaired by the association's president Hafiz Afroz Naveed and held under the support of Syed Ismail Hussaini (Haji Pasha), began with the recitation of Holy Qur'an by Mohammed Noor Naqsabandi. Prominent alumni of Jamia Nizamia, including Mohammed Saleem, Syed Abdulbaqi, Mohammed Amanullah, Mohammed Hyder Ali, Mohammed Musleh Uddin Jaweed, Mohammed Abdul Rub Hamid, Mohammed Zaki Uddin, Mohammed Ismail and Hafiz Mohammed Burhanuddin, were among the guests. Gifts were presented to the pilgrims. Some of them recited Islamic poems. The function, conducted by Hafiz Ghouri, ended with a heart-rending supplication from Mohammed Abdul Hafeez Sabari. Young members of the group worked hard to make the event a success. Organizers said the goal of the alumni organization was to spread awareness about Islamic education among young Indian and Pakistani expatriates living in Jeddah.
