Pakistan International School Jeddah (English Section) emerged victorious following a thrilling Under-16 Johnson Cup final against Pakistan International School Aziziya Green which was decided by the Super over here last week. PIS Aziziya Green opting to bat first piled up 150 for three as prolific Mudassir hammered an unbeaten century off 58 balls with three sixes and seven fours. Waseem made 26 and Hamza added 13. Sauleh took twi wickets. PISJ (ES) chased the target clinically to get to 146 for eight with one ball remaining and requiring five runs to win. A boundary on the last ball leveled the scores. Usman made 35, Furqan 27 and Habib 22. As per the international rules umpires decided to go for the Super Over to decide the result. PIS Aziziya Green taking the strike first could make only seven runs, while PISJ (ES) successfully chased the required runs to clinch the Johnson Cup 2011. In another encounter PIS Aziziya White beat DPS Al-Falah International School by 48 runs to clinch the third spot. The Whites hit 151-5 with skipper Hisgam making 60 and Umer scoring 34. Reyees took 2-17 for DPS. In reply DPS Al-Falah was restricted to 103-4. Abdullah remained not out for 41. The match was followed by a glittering awards distribution ceremony. Former Pakistan hockey Olympian Shehbaz Senior was the chief guest on the ocassion. Furqan of PISJ (ES) picked up the winner's trophy. In other awards the Man of the Final and the Best Batsman awards went to Mudassir of PIS Aziziya Green; Best Bowler award was bagged by Omer Lateef of PISJ (ES), while the Best All-rounder prize was awarded to Hisham of PIS Aziziya White. Hisham of Whites was named the Man of the match for the third spot. Guests of honour were Farruk Shahbaz of Johnson Control and WPCA officials Khurshid Zafar, Sohail Shah, Shafeeq Ahmed and Khalil Dawre. The tournament, sponsored by Johnson Control and managed by Western Province Cricket Association, ran for almost seven weeks with eight local schools taking part in the event.
