JEDDAH: The Pakistan International School Jeddah—Azizia beat the Pakistan International School Jeddah-English Section by 10 runs to clinch the Under-15 Inter-School Johnson Cup at the WPCA Eskan Grounds here last week. The tournament, which ran for seven weeks, was sponsored by Johnson Controls and organized by Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA). This is the second championship won by PIS this year as earlier they defeated Al Beladi international School to win the SCC sponsored Under 14 tournament. DPS Al-Falah School defeated Hala School to win the third position. A glittering prize distribution ceremony was held after the matches. PISJ-Azizia batting first piled up 145-4 in the allotted 16 overs and then restricted PISJ-ES to 135-7 to claim the cup. Mudassair Gulab scored 42 runs, while Hamza Shahid added 30, Saqlain Malik 40 and Mohammed Ali 12 for Azizia. Sauleh took 2-40 and Ahsan one wicket. PISJ–ES in reply started disastrously and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Skipper Furqan Farruq was its top-scorer with 68 off 42 balls. Sauleh added 17 and Habib 15 for the losing cause. Omar Ghayas scalped 2-24 as Mohammed Ali took 2-36, while Gohar Ali and Mudassir bagged a wicket each for the champion. For the third position match Hala School could score only 64 as Rayees took 2-23, Fuad 2-11 and Rayan 2-4. In response DPS Al-Falah reached the target for the loss of four wickets. Man-of-the-Match Rayan hit an unbeaten 29 with Fuad making 10 and Uzair 8. Saad Ali, Abdul Wasay and Omar grabbed a wicket each. A glittering Prize distribution ceremony was held after the matches. Participation plaques were awarded to schools, while umpires, scorers, commentator Naushad and ground support staff were given Services Awards. Man of Match award in the semifinals were picked up by Sauleh of PISJ-ES and Omar Ghayas of PISJ-Azizia. Mudassir of PISJ-Azizia claimed the Man of the Match award for the final for his 42 runs and a wicket. Mudassir Gulab picked up the Batsman of the Tournament award for his 168 runs, while Sauleh was adjudged Best Bowler for his 11 wickets. The Prestigious Player of the Tournament was picked up by Furqan Farruq for his 198 runs and four wickets.
