Two blind men, a father and son, are in the process of filing a lawsuit at the Administration Court in Jeddah against the Jeddah Mayoralty for various injuries sustained after they fell into a storm water channel dug by a national contracting company under the direct supervision of the mayoralty in Al-Hamra District. Although the father received assurances from Dr. Hani Abu Rass, Mayor of Jeddah, that he will personally look into the complaint, the man has insisted on going ahead with the case. Saeed Al-Aurafi, the plaintiff, said he and his son suffered injuries and bruises two days ago when they fell into an uncovered trench in Jeddah. They said they came all the way from Riyadh to Jeddah to enjoy the fine weather and beautiful beaches but never dreamt they would experience such a situation. He said it was hard to believe that the contractor, who works under the direct supervision of the mayoralty, has been so negligent in an area frequented by thousands of picnickers and holidaymakers. Muhammad Balu, Secretary General of the Ibsar Society, said despite the determination of Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah, to make Jeddah friendly for the vision-impaired, there were still some ditches and holes close to the beach which has trapped several visitors from Riyadh, including tourists with special needs __
