JEDDAH: Police in Jeddah arrested Wednesday afternoon a man shortly after he was foiled by the public in his attempt to force a nine-year-old girl into his car and abduct her. Locals in the Al-Nuzla District spotted the man grabbing the girl and intervened to prevent the abduction, leaving the perpetrator to speed off in his car. Police were provided with a description of the man and his vehicle however, and nearby patrols soon after located him in the Al-Balad District where a 15-minute pursuit resulted in his arrest. A police official said that the individual had previous records for car theft and other offenses.
