A man wanted by the authorities in connection with a hit and run case has been detained after his car raised the suspicions of police officers. A police patrol observing the vehicle in eastern Riyadh ran a computer check on the vehicle's background and discovered that it was listed as stolen and that an All Points Bulletin (APB) to impound it had been issued from Al-Deerah Police Station. When the identity of the driver as a wanted-man for his involvement in a hit and run case was revealed, he was handed over to Al-Rawdha Police Station. The car was also found to contain hashish and a large amount of cash. Rapid arrests were made in the case of a Saudi reporting the theft of a mobile telephone. Police from Al-Nadheem Police Station identified a number of people matching the descriptions given by the victim only a short time before. The arrested have been detained at Al-Nadheem Police Station. In another incident, a man has been detained after fleeing on foot from police. The man was identified as driving a vehicle that was on the wanted list and the subject of an APB issued by Al-Deerah Police. Police first became suspicious of the car as it proceeded through Al-Wurood District and followed the vehicle to Al-Mugharrazat in north Riyadh, whereupon the driver stopped and fled on foot. The patrols pursued the suspect to a nearby building site where he was finally detained. A fourth incident saw security patrols in Riyadh arrest two people who had stolen nine sheep at knifepoint. The Saudi victim of the crime was tending to his flock in a walled enclosure in Al-Muzahimiah Governorate when he was accosted by two individuals wielding knives. Police later detained the pair. – Okaz __
