JEDDAH: Jimmy Leonida and Zaldy Bacero combined their powers at 1,275 to assure EKIS the top spot by edging Gulf Oil in the Filipino Expatriate Damayan Bowling Group Friday Morning Bowling League 10th Conference in its 25th week of action at the Bowling City here. With Cora Agas, Rudy Carillo, Willie Ansis and Faisal Relativo providing help combined for 2,145, EKIS luckily escaped Gulf Oil's offense game by game except on game 2 wherein the latter succeeded on handicapped set at 1,175-1,160. EKIS edged Gulf Oil on Games 1 & 3 at 1,123-1,121 and 1,137-1,100 and on the final tallies of 3,420-3,396. The match was made as close as possible by Gulf Oil's most seasoned player Paolo Allego who valiantly shielded their team with Bowler of the Week honor-winning total of 732. Magnificently backed up by Jett Santos, whose 565 support was decorated by a 231, Allego blocked EKIS blows with games of 206, 280 and 246. Fairly contributing to Gulf's defensive stance were Joy Tan, Rolly Vistal, team manager Nildo Tan and team captain Marlon Heredia. Most overwhelmed on EKIS victory was TC Ernie Geslani as their 573-point accruals could hardly be overtaken by the nearest pursuer. Trailing by 25 points to Make My Day (542-517) prior to the match, Sabban Electro Mehanical Compay mounted solid offense against the very same team to get as near as 2-point disadvantage (547-545) on an 18-2 settlement. Edu Toledo (612) and Team Captain Joel Nidoy (605) caused most of the cropping which made Sabban superior on the honest support of Aisah Silabay, Marcelo Manalo, Ding dela Rosa and George Mangaliman. Obie Ycasas and Jeff San Pedro tried covering MMD with 218 and 204 but teammates wasn't able to support sufficiently to block Sabban's domination at 3,441-3,298. Globe got away from the threat of No Fear when Randy Mata, Imelda Sayago, Rod Morales and Abdulfatta Mogawan combined for 2,476 to defeat Bowlodrome Shark at 16-4. With fair joint support of 1,106 from Noeh Leysa and Danny Manriza, Globe humbled the Oliver Malicsi-managed team on game 1 and 3 at 1,149-1,106 and 1,368-1,073. Bowlodrome won game 2 at 1,182-1,065 but did not hinder Globe in emerging City Reataurant Team of the week after winning the match 3,582-3,362. Mata totaled best for Globe at 636 with 252 hi-game. Defense of Bowlodrome was bested by Rey del Rosario at 641 with Melvin Lising backing up with 255 hi-game scratch. Lance & 3rdy shared the light when team manager Evelyn Santoc and Joey Calapatia led their team with 626 and 618 to wallop fourth-running Micah's Pride at 16-4 (3,473-3,432). But despite this setback Micah's kept position and team manager Ester Santoc stole the scene when she emerged as Bowler of the Week in a back-to-back fashion. Ester totaled 648 from games of 210, 210 and 228 in defense of their team.
