The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, received here today Dr. Faisal Al-Moammar, the Secretary General of the Vienna-based King Abdullah Center For Dialogue and Civilizations. For his part, Prof. Ihsanoglu welcomed the establishment of the Center, emphasizing the need for joint cooperation between the OIC and the Center in various areas, including the application of the Human Rights Council's international resolution 16/18, which is aimed at combating the campaign of Islamophobia as well as contributing to the peaceful co-existence between religions and different cultures. Meanwhile, Dr. Al-Moammar expressed readiness of the Center to enhance cooperation and consultation with the OIC, in order to achieve co-existence and dialogue between religions, promote tolerance, and rebuild trust among people of different religions and beliefs. Dr. Al-Moammar extended an invitation to the OIC Secretary-General to attend the opening ceremony of the Center, which is scheduled to take place by the end of this year.
