Qa'da 05, Oct 13, SPA -- Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh on Tuesday discussed with Chinese Middle East peace envoy Wu Sike the latest developments in the Middle East as well as efforts underway to bring about peace and stability in the region. Judeh briefed the Chinese envoy on efforts by King Abdullah II to achieve peace and stability in the region based on the two-state solution, credible terms of reference and the Arab Peace Initiative that guarantee the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to a report of Qatar News Agency (QNA). He also updated the Chinese official on the outcome of a meeting of the Arab Peace Initiative Committee held last Friday in the Libyan city of Sirte. Highlighting the importance of Beijing's role in pushing peace efforts forward and its valuable support for Arab causes, he underlined the need to create a proper climate to resume direct negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis that address all final status issues, adding this requires an end to unilateral Israeli moves, mainly settlement construction. For his part, the Chinese envoy commended King Abdullah's continued efforts to achieve peace in the region, adding his country would support efforts to achieve permanent and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
