The Council of Ministers of Health of the member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is to convene its 72nd conference in Muscat, Wednesday, with focus on "countering spread of non-infectious diseases". Health Ministry Advisor and member of the council's executive authority Dr. Ali bin Jaafar, in a press release, said the officials would discuss a detailed report on the executive bureau's activities throughout the previous session. The agenda also includes items on the Manama bill on non-infectious diseases, a report and recommendations and follow up on the mechanisms to implement the Dubai declaration, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported. The official said the ministers would also discuss a Memorandum on "a unified GCC framework for high-level representation at UN functions," review activities in gulf states as part of the GCC campaign against non-infectious diseases, and consider a date for the second broad meeting of the GCC Committee on Countering non-infectious diseases.
