Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, expressed hope today that the Durban Climate Change conference, currently ongoing in the South African city of Durban, would forge an arrangement that paves the way for the next step to face climate change and help adaptation with it within a long-term cooperation agreement or through adoption of the second term of Kyoto Protocol, the two world-agreed-upon tracks to deal with the problem. Leading the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's delegation to the conference, Al-Naimi vowed that his country is ready to help the conferees reach a consensus on the issue. He explained that his country has made great strides in the fight for Green Climate, citing its endeavors to develop renewable energy resources, including solar energy. He pointed to the establishment of King Abdullah City for Atomic an Renewable Energy, King Abdullah City for Science and Technology and other solar energy and clean fuel research centers.
