On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, chaired the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's delegation to the 16th UN Climate summit and the 6th conference for the Parties of Kyoto Protocol which were held in Cancun, Mexico, from 23 Zul-Hijja 1431 H. - 5 Muharram 1432 H. Addressing the Ministerial meetings yesterday, Al-Naimi expressed the keenness of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to reach an arrangement between the member parties within justice and equality, confirming that his country's is ready to shoulder its fair share within the developing countries and demanded refraining from any protectionist biased measures against fossil fuel, particularly petroleum products. In a speech before the conference, he said the conference comes amid critical circumstances that necessitate reaching an arrangement that paves the way for solving the issues of post-2012 to face climate change and "adapt ourselves with it through abiding by the agreements". He stated that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has participated and still participates effectively in these negotiations to reach an agreement that takes into consideration the interests of all parties, led by our developing countries within a framework of justice, equilibrium and comprehensiveness and in what contributes to a positive growth for the world economy. --More
