AlHijjah 5, 1432, Nov 1, 2011, SPA -- Minister of Transport Dr. Jubara bin Eid Al-Suraisri, who is also the Chairman of Saudi Railways Organization, said here today that in furthermost of the unlimited State assistance accorded to transport sector, and to fall in line with the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to be keen in facilitating transport means for citizens, residents as well as visitors, in addition to the importance of connecting Kingdom's regions by a railway network project, the Two Holy Mosques express train project will serve as a support to the already-established giant highways network in the Kingdom. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Al-Suraisri pointed out that, following the royal approval to negotiate with a Saudi-Spanish consortium, the Organization will embark on implementing the second phase of the project to connect Makkah-Jeddah-Madinah through the express train. The over speed express train at 330km per hour will travel the distance of 300 KMs in two hours, while the total cost of the project is expected to cost, approximately, SR 30 billion. -- SPA
