Janoub, Asir, Dhu-AlQa'dah 21, 1432, Oct 19, 2011, SPA - The Civil Defence said that the cases of fainting that occurred yesterday in Girls College in Dhahran Al-Janoub, Asir region, have been due to panic that resulted from a failure in an alarm bell at the College. The Civil Defence disclosed that 40 girls have been discharged from a hospital after medical treatment, and that only three girls, whose conditions are stable, still remained in the hospital. The Information Deputy Speaker of the Directorate of Civil Defense in Asir Region, Major Ahmed Al-Awwadh Al-Almai, said in a statement that the Center of Command and Control received a notification on a number of cases of fainting and panic in the College, and teams in-charge immediately rushed to the site and transferred 43 girls to a hospital in collaboration with Dhahran Al-Janoub Hospital and Saudi Red Crescent Authority. He noted that no cases of a stampede or injuries were reported, but only cases of fainting and panic, stressing that investigations are continuing to learn more about the circumstances of the incident.
