Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu expressed deep concern at the continuing use of the armed force by Syrian security forces against Syrian civilian demonstrators. According to a press release issued by OIC today, the Secretary General appeals to the Syrian leadership to exercise the utmost restraint by the immediate cessation of the use of force to suppress popular demonstrations, and to engage in dialogue with all forces in Syria for understanding on satisfactory reforms and accelerate their implementation. Professor Ihsanoglu also expressed readiness of the OIC to play a role in this context, stressing that dialogue is the only safe option through which this serious crisis can be contained.
