Awwal 19, 1432, Feb 22, 2011, SPA -- The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) has expressed its strong condemnation of the use of excessive force against civilians in Libya, which killed a large number of persons and wounded others. "What is happening in Libya is suppression and intimidation, and it is in fact a humanitarian disaster incompatible with Islamic and human values," the OIC said. The OIC Secretary General, Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, called on the Libyan authorities for the immediate cessation of violence and the targeting of innocent Libyan people, and highlighted the need to deal with their demands through peaceful means and dialogue instead of hard methods of lethality and bloodshed, The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Conference, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Libyan people and the families of the victims and wished speedy recovery to the wounded.
