The Saudi Red Crescent (SRC) handed over here today the third batch of ambulances to Sudanese authorities as a gift of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in support of humanitarian efforts in the Sudanese state of Darfur. Prince Abdullah bin Faisal bin Farhan, the Director General of International Affairs at the SRC, delivered the gift at a special ceremony in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum to the Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs Dr. Mutraf Siddiq. The event was attended by Sudan government officials, representatives of international humanitarian organizations, and Saudi embassy senior staff members. For his part, Siddiq, in welcome remarks on the personal interest of Prince Faisal bin Farhan of this matter, expressed thanks and gratitude to the Government of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its continuous support for Sudan. He noted that there are 21 health centers and 21 wells benefiting more than 800,000 run by SRC in the three states of Darfur. He said that the SRC now covers 30% of the needs of the people of Darfur.
