The Sudan-based Regional Bureau of the Saudi Red Crescent Commission (SRCC) today celebrated the delivery of the second batch of ambulances and support vehicles for humanitarian work in Darfor. The ceremony was attended by Saudi Charge D'affaires in Khartoum Fayhan bin Saleh Al-Otaibi, Sudan's Minister of State at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs Dr. Abdul-baqi Al-Jilani and senior officials. The consignment includes six ambulances and nine support vehicles for humanitarian work in Darfor. Speaking on the occasion, Al-Jilani said Saudi Arabia has contributed to filling the gap of expelling foreign relief organizations from Darfor by 50%. For his part, the Regional Director for SRCC Dr. Muaalla Al-Jabri said the dedication of the second phase of relief equipment came in implementation of directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz; Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General; and Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior; and the direct supervision of Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, President of the SRCC. Al-Jabri said, "in phase one, eight health field centers, and 14 water stations were now operating in Darfor". He disclosed plans for the reclamation of 3000 Feddans of agricultural lands in Darfor.
