Catherine Ashton, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy has announced the appointment of Austrian diplomat Christian Berger to the post of Director for North Africa, Middle East, Arabian Peninsula, Iran and Iraq in the European External Action Service. In a press statement, Catherine Ashton explained that the Austrian diplomat has rich experience in dealing with the affairs of the region.
