Awwal 16, 1432 H/April 20, 2011, SPA -- European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton underscored the significance of the European Union (EU)-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) ministerial meeting which took place in the Emirates' Capital, Abu Dhabi. Ashton, in a statement issued by her office, called the meeting as constructive and fruitful at a nick of time. The EU-GCC members states, the statement added, have diverse mutual interests. The meeting unveiled how much it is important to discuss issues of common interest, laying the basis to strengthen their dialogue and cooperation at all levels, the statement further said. Recent developments in North Africa and Arab Peninsula, are obvious indicators to the need for a stronger dialogue among the two regional blocs, the statement concluded. -- SPA
